Made the Weekend

How we review

The rules behind every guide

A short, honest account of how we decide what to recommend - and how we make money without letting it bend the advice.

First-hand or it doesn't go up

Every guide is based on a real visit. We stay the nights, walk the walks and eat the meals before writing a word. If nobody in our circle has genuinely been somewhere, there's no guide for it yet.

We say when something's overrated

Recommendations only mean something if we're willing to warn you off things too. Every guide includes at least one honest "skip this" - the thing everyone suggests that isn't worth your weekend.

How we make money

Some links to places to stay, tours and gear earn us a small commission if you book, at no extra cost to you. It never changes what we recommend or the order we recommend it in. We'd rather send you to the right place and earn nothing than the wrong place and earn a fee.

Photography

We use our own photos wherever we have them. Where we don't yet, we use properly licensed images as a clearly-marked stand-in and replace them with our own over time. We never pass off someone else's photo of a place as our own.
